Corporate Comics* (TM)

HOW FINANCIAL HITMEN IMPLODED THE COMICS MARKET IN ORDER TO DIRECT MODERN MYTHOLOGY

The corporate elite infiltrated the comic book industry in the early 1990's while I was attending middle school and still reading comics regularly; I watched, still ignorant of economics, as they inflated the comics market by way of speculators, causing a bankruptcy of "the big two" publishers -Marvel, and DC, which were then bought by Disney and Time Warner. Now revamped and under direction of elite motives, the shiny blockbuster Hollywood appeal of superhero adventures was given its just and long awaited cinematic spectacle; characters became franchises- with Spider-Man and Batman first at the plate. The elite began overhauling the once bloated comics publishing industry they brought to its knees with gimmicky "limited-edition multiple variant chromium covers" and dozens of spin-off titles requiring a dedicated and wealthy fan base that never existed- just like they later did to the housing markets- a manufactured boom followed by a manufactured bust. Corporate comics and their related blockbuster film spin-offs are major billion dollar industry level propaganda; this much is now clear. It's time to decipher the esoteric side of their brainwashing (TV, radios, electronic social media, movies, literature and genre fiction, ect...) so as to disabuse ourselves of their effectiveness in looming so strangle over our collective subconscious.

Comic book publishing mainstays Marvel Comics and DC are now owned by Disney and Time Warner respectively; these are two of the five major corporations that own over 90% of all of the media we take in online, on television, read from the newsstand, and watch at the movie theater. These companies don't present a face to millions without careful planning and consideration. This recent introduction of a female Thor is conveniently timed media persuasion subconsciously preparing a heavily propagandized and marketed-to young liberal class to rally for Hillary Clinton in 2016. And the new Black Captain America is staying outta Detroit, Chicago, and Camden, regardless his nationality or race.

Super hero comic books are marketing tie ins to movies these days- movies are where Americans get their most effective brainwashing work done. For a few decades super hero comics were a type of new, modern mythology- now they're largely corporate owned pamphleteer campaigns advertising the next big blockbuster reinforced homogenous culture tune up. They'll sell this as a symptom of feminist progress, and many decent folks will believe it, but it's just propaganda owned by Disney. The corporations are not feminist, they are about empowering one special woman, who, come 2016, will begin empowering them back just like her husband and boss have done.
Comic books used to be a reflection of our culture-now they're largely corporate-owned tools of mass propaganda designed to influence our culture, not reflect it. When art moves from expressing an idea for the sake of making connections and establishing a dialogue with the audience to persuading readers of an agenda- it's no longer art, and becomes propaganda. This is what happened to commercial comic books- a corporate coup, just like the rest of our legislative process has seen. Nothing is sacred to these people.
